Magali Cunico bor och är verksam i Stockholm.
Hon arbetar huvudsakligen med måleri som tar utgångspunkt i olika fotografiska bilder, ofta i sammansatta installationer med flera konstnärliga uttrycksmedel. Hon återkommer till teman som undersöker konstens roll och problematiserar sambandet mellan estetiska värden och ideal och dagens ekologiska och politiska kriser,
Dialogen som uppstår mellan verken och betraktaren är av stor vikt. Genom att föra samman olika bilder, ibland texter och tredimensionnella element skapas nya berättelser. Ur måleriets långsamma process och perspektivförändring kan det yttre och det inre förenas med det påtagliga och det omedvetna.
Utställningsrummet spelar en viktig roll i hennes process. Den specifika platsens möjligheter och begränsningar skapar förändringar i verken och adderar nya lager av tid, rum och minne.
Magali Cunico is a Swiss born artist based in Stockholm.
She works mainly with paintings based on various photographic images. They are often shown in installations combined with several artistic means of expression. Recurring themes in her art practice are the role of contemporary art and the connection between aesthetic values and ideals and today’s ecological, political and social crises.
The dialogue that arises between the works and the viewer is of great importance. She is interested in investigating our representation of reality through images. By bringing together different images, sometimes texts and / or three-dimensional elements, new stories are created. From the slow process of painting and the shifts of perspective, the outside world and an inner state of mind are brought together as well as the tangible and the unconscious. The showroom plays an important role in her process. The possibilities and limitations of a specific space add new layers of time, space and memory to each work.
